Canon Printer Prints True Colour Doves

Canon’s S830D Bubble Jet Printer is promoted in “Wall”, a 30 second TV advert. A woman walks into her room with a photograph freshly printed directly from her digital camera on to her bubble jet printer. In the background we see and hear white doves roosting in a tree through the window. The woman hangs her photo of a dove in the window with satisfaction. She jumps to scare off the doves. Just as we think one of them has stayed behind, the wind reveals that we’re looking at the photograph.

The Printer

The Canon S830D Bubble Jet printer was first released in 2002. It uses six colour cartridges and prints photos in A4. What would have interested photographers in the ad was the capacity to print directly from a digital camera. Canon has since surpassed this printer with the introduction of the Pixma series, promoting it with another ad which will be covered in another post here.
