General Motors released the Hummer H3 SUV in November 2005 with a television commercial featuring Jennifer the Monster, her robot partner and their child. The commercial was featured during the 2006 Super Bowl. A long-tailed reptilian monster (Godzilla-style) smashes its way through a CG city, stepping on low buildings and knocking over high rises. All of a sudden she meets another creature her own size – a robot. His eyes glow red. Thus begins the romance behind the Hummer. The super is superimposed over a shot of the Earth: “It’s a Little Monster”The New H3 Hummer.com/Monsters. Hummer – Like Nothing Else.”
The couple stroll through the streets, enjoying the moonlight. Before long we see the couple again – this time the monster is pregnant. Another scene shows the day of the birth. The robot’s busy with his work – dismantling the city, when he hears his partner calling. He goes to her side and finds her with the new baby – a red Hummer H3. They kiss. He gently puts it down on the ground and they watch it drive off.
The new H3 is perhaps the child of the larger H1 and H2 SUVs. It’s a more affordable and economical vehicle, with a 220 horsepower 5 cylinder engine that is claimed to do 20 miles per gallon. And what’s more, it is available in manual transmission.

Love is Strange
The music for the Hummer Monster commercial is “Love is Strange”, written by Ethel Smith and Mickey Baker, originally recorded in the 1960s. It is sung here by Everything But The Girl who are not happy about it. On their web site Ben and Tracey point out that their cover version of ‘Love Is Strange’ was used without their knowledge or consent. Warner Music UK, who controls their early 90’s recorded performances, agreed that the track could be used, but did not inform the band.
Lyrics for Love Is Strange
Baby, love is strange
Many many people, take it for a game
My sweet baby, love is strange
Yeah Yeah
Many many people, take it for a game
Yeah Yeah
Love is strange
Love is strange
Yeah Yeah
Many many people, take it for a game
Yeah Yeah
Love is strange
Love is strange
Many people, they don’t understand
They think that having love is,
like having money in the hand
My sweet baby, love is strange
Many many people, seem to take it for a game
La la la la
Love is strange
La la la la
Love is strange
Thank you for the review of the Hummer 3 ad that was shown on the 2-5-06 Super Bowl. In the US the ad got mixed reactions and personally, I was disappointed. The commercials done for the Super Bowl have as much anticipation as the game itself and this year the ads might have been better than the game. Two ads were old ones not done specifically for the Super Bowl. One was the Motorola Pebl ad and the other was the Hummer 3 monster ad. Companies paid 2.5 million dollars US for a .30 sec ad and the Monster ad was a minute ad so, 5 million US. In my humble opinion Hummer would have spent their 5 mil more wisely using the “Chairs” ad for the H3, which I thought was a beautiful ad. Just my opinion.
The H3 features a two-speed, electronically controlled full-time four-wheel drive system that is suitable for both on-road and off-road driving in all conditions, with electronic locking front and rear differentials optionally available.
the new hummer hybrid is making rounds all along the automotive world today. hybrid world enters the dynasty of hummer. it ise expected to boost fuel economy of hummer h3 by many folds .
