The Australian government has reintroduced its advertising campaign reminding Australians to remain vigilant and report possible signs of terrorism to the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400. The 30 second ad shows the development of a montage of photographs showing possibly suspect behaviour. Shots include purchase of fertilizer, a parked van, a truck parked by a bridge, a firearm, a man photographing a fuel depot, someone watching an airport through binoculars, an abandoned suitcase and the exchange of foreign currency.
The voiceover: “Small pieces of information from members of the public can help keep Australia safe from terrorism. Police and security agencies are working hard, but you could help them complete the picture. If you see anything suspicious, call the 24-Hour National Security Hotline and help protect Australia from terrorism. Call 1800 123 400. Trained operators take every call seriously and you can remain anonymous.”

The Help Protect Australia campaign was launched in September 2004 and continued until March 2006. The campaign included television, press, transit and outdoor advertising. Press ads were run in 33 languages other than English, along with radio advertising in 28 different languages.
This phase of the campaign built on the first phase, ‘Let’s Look Out For Australia’ which was launched in December 2002.
