It’s the Year of the Surf Lifesaver in Australia in 2007. This TV ad for Surf Life Saving Australia, Heroes, tells the story of life savers from the perspective of a young survivor.
You won’t find my heroes in comic books,
you’ll find them on the beach.
My heroes don’t wear masks or capes,
they wear red and yellow caps.
My heroes don’t fight for truth and justice,
they battle the wind and the waves.
My heroes don’t have x-ray vision,
yet they can spot danger for a mile.
My heroes don’t leap over tall buildings,
that doesn’t mean they can’t fly.
My heroes aren’t the kind that save the world,
but they did save my life.

The Heroes ad was developed at BCM, Brisbane by creative director Greville Patterson, copywriter Nick Ikonomou, art director Ian Jensen, agency producer Lizzie Hilburger, account director Paul Cornwell, account manager Paul Eves.
