Genesis Pukeko Messages in New Zealand

Genesis Energy in New Zealand has used one of the country’s native birds, the Pukeko (swamphen) to illustrate a commitment to sustainable energy production and consumption. In “Nest” a pukeko gathers materials from many sources to build its nest. In “Mummy” A mother pukeko leads her children through a house demonstrating the ways New Zealanders can conserve precious energy.

Genesis Pukeko Credits

The Genesis Pukeko campaign was developed at Lowe Auckland by executive creative director Chris Hunter, art director Leisa Wall and copywriter Jane Jamieson, and agency producer Jackie Clark.

Filming was shot by director Chris Dudman via Robber’s Dog with producers Nikki Walker and Claris Harvey.

Editor was Paul Maxwell at Oktobor. Post production was done at Perceptual Engineering, Auckland. Animals were trained by Mark Vette.

Music is by Murray Grindlay.

  1. As a former kiwi living in Tasmania, I find these the most cute two adds I have ever seen on television. I first saw them when on holiday in NZ and just had to have a copy to show everyone here. After a few phone calls I was able to look it up on the internet and at last found what I was looking for much to my delight.
    I would switch to Genesis if I was back in NZ.
